Welcome to the Nelson Paddling Club!

Since the early 90’s the club has had a presence in Lakeside park. As a volunteer-run society, the NPC has delivered community events programs, summer camps, and a youth sprint program. The NPC has promoted and supported paddle sports in our community. We have sent many medal winners to BC Games, and had Nelson represented at the Nationals. Club paddlers have even been on the national podium, and the community celebrated our impressive representation at nationals in 2019, and especially Heather Potkins’s silver and bronze medal wins.

Paddling is a sport that is accessible for all ages and abilities, and has a low financial barrier to participation. It’s also important to note that the Club is already aligned with the City’s vision in the draft Official Community Plan by providing and encouraging a human-propelled and fossil-free water based activity in Lakeside Park and along the waterfront.

The NPC has contributed a great deal to the community over its 30+ years, and hopes to continue. We are asking for the City and RDCK to support us in remaining on the waterfront now and into the future.

Featured Coach: Zoe Taylor

NPC Assistant Coach, Zoe Taylor, is a Nelson native and avid sports enthusiast. Zoe has paddled and raced for NPC in many regattas, Provincial and Nationals over the years.

She has been passionate about paddling for 6 years now and coaching since 2019. Zoe always make sure to stay up to date on all the newest coaching techniques and is looking forward to working with old and new NPC members. While paddling is Zoe's main activity, she also enjoy cross country skiing, mountain biking, and spending time outdoors in general.

Zoe is presently studying Sciences at the UBC in Vancouver. Nelson Paddling Club is thrilled to have Zoe back working with Head Coach Andrea to develop and run fun-filled paddling programs on Kootenay Lake.
